I was walking through Clark Garden’s, outside of Mineral Wells, TX, when I noticed an overgrown brick path canopied by tree limbs and leaves. I pushed through the leaves and continued a few feet to a bench sitting on the inside of the path, as the path curved around it in a U shape. The bench faced Eastward overlooking a substantial drop off and looking onward to a beautiful horizon. It was an amazing surprise, and made me think of the Robert Frost poem, The Road Not Taken. I noticed a small plant growing from the cracks between the bricks making up the path. Looking closely, I wondered how many others knew about the path, pushed through the leaves, saw the horizon, or noticed the plant growing through the bricks. I created this piece as a reminder to look closely, remember the path not taken, and appreciate the beautiful world around us. I titled it Wanted Wear.
